Small-business owners shopping for a cash-back card now have a bigger incentive to consider the U.S. Bank Triple Cash Rewards Visa® Business Card.
Its limited-time welcome bonus allows new cardholders to earn $750 in cash back after spending $6,000 on the Account Owner’s card in the first 180 days of opening an account.
Details of the Welcome Bonus
Only purchases made with the account owner’s card count toward the spending requirement to earn the welcome bonus. Spending on employee cards does not qualify.
Cardholders have 180 days to meet the spending requirement, which is longer than the window many other business credit cards offer.
The bonus can provide a strong return on spending if your business can reasonably hit the $6,000 threshold within the timeframe without overspending. The only way to receive full value from the bonus is by meeting the spending requirement and then paying off your balance in full. Making minimum payments and accruing interest charges will only negate the value of the welcome bonus in the long term.
That said, the Triple Cash Rewards Visa does offer a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 billing cycles followed by a variable APR of 17.74% to 26.74%. This gives cardholders a longer runway to pay off the spending used to hit the bonus threshold. Still, be wary of when interest charges resume. You don’t want those costs to eat into the value of the bonus.
Cardholders can redeem cash back earned through the welcome bonus, as well as all cash back earned with the card, for a statement credit, a deposit to a qualifying U.S. Bank account or to instantly offset purchases using Real-Time Rewards.
Other Rewards Rates & Bonus Categories
Beyond its welcome bonus, the U.S. Bank Triple Cash Rewards Visa® Business Card offers a basic rewards structure:
- Earn 5% cash back on prepaid hotels and car rentals booked directly in the Travel Center when using your card, 3% cash back on eligible purchases at gas stations and EV charging stations on transactions of $200 or less (excluding discount stores, supercenters and wholesale clubs), office supply stores, cell phone service providers and restaurants and 1% cash back on other eligible purchases.
- There’s no cap on the total rewards you can earn in the bonus categories.
This structure is competitive for businesses with heavy expenditures in these areas. But if most of your spending falls outside these bonus categories, the 1% base rate will matter more and could limit your annual rewards potential compared to other business cards that offer a higher base earnings rate.
Fees & Other Perks
- The card charges no annual fee.
- The card charges a foreign transaction fee of Up to 3%. This could be a downside if your business spends a lot internationally or if you frequently travel overseas.
- One handy bonus: The card provides an annual $100 credit for recurring software subscription purchases, like QuickBooks and FreshBooks. This perk can offer yearly value, especially considering there is no annual cost to hold the card.
In addition to its cash-back structure and credits, the card includes a suite of Visa‐backed travel and buyer protections. These include a secondary auto rental collision damage waiver, purchase protection, extended warranty coverage and travel and emergency assistance services.
While useful, these benefits are not as comprehensive as what you’d find in some premium travel business cards. They may not cover all travel-related risks or meet the thresholds needed for larger claims.
Bottom Line
For many small and midsize business owners in the U.S., the U.S. Bank Triple Cash Rewards Visa® Business Card is a competitive choice—especially for those more focused on cutting everyday operating costs rather than collecting travel perks.
If it seems like a fit for you, now is a smart time to apply and take advantage of a limited-time welcome offer: $750 in cash back after spending $6,000 on the Account Owner’s card in the first 180 days of opening an account.
With no annual fee and an uncomplicated rewards system, the card offers value beyond its welcome offer if your company spends primarily at gas stations or on EV charging, office supplies, dining and telecommunications.
