The American Express® Business Gold Card (Terms apply, rates & fees) has added a new benefit to its lineup: Cardholders now receive up to $150 in statement credits each calendar year for eligible U.S. purchases made directly with Squarespace (enrollment required).

Breaking Down the Squarespace Credit

The new credit is available to both new and existing Business Gold card members with enrollment. When you use the card to pay for eligible Squarespace purchases, you’ll receive up to $150 in statement credits for the calendar year. Transactions must occur in the U.S., where Squarespace is the merchant of record for the purchase.

Since the benefit is per calendar year, you could earn up to $150 in credits by December 31 and another $150 starting January 1 next year.

By adding this perk without raising the card’s annual fee—which remains at $375—the card increases its value for businesses that already use or plan to use Squarespace.

Beyond the Squarespace Credit: Other Business Gold Benefits

The new Squarespace credit adds to the lineup of benefits that make the Business Gold card a versatile option for small business owners.

  • Earn Membership Rewards® points. The American Express® Business Gold Card earns 4 Membership Rewards® points per dollar on the two eligible categories where a business spends the most each month (up to $150,000 combined purchases per calendar year, then 1 point), 3 points per dollar on flights and prepaid hotels booked on Amex Travel and 1 point per dollar is earned for other purchases.
  • Other statement credits for business spending. Once enrolled, cardholders can earn up to $20 in statement credits each month (up to $240 annually) for eligible U.S. purchases at select merchants, namely office supply stores, Grubhub and FedEx.
  • Statement credit for Walmart+ membership. If you use your card to pay your monthly Walmart+ membership dues, you’ll receive a statement credit of up to $12.95 each month (subject to auto-renewal), totaling about $155 annually.
  • Business-friendly features and protections. The Business Gold card offers features suited to small business needs, such as expense management tools, no preset spending limit and some travel and purchase protections.

A Golden Rule: Read the Fine Print

  • Enrollment is required to access statement credit benefits (i.e., Squarespace, monthly merchant credits). Make sure to activate these once you are eligible.
  • The card’s 4X points earnings rate applies only to two chosen eligible categories for each billing cycle, on up to $150,000 in spending per calendar year. After the threshold is reached, the earning rate drops to 1X. Big-scale spenders should evaluate how much value they can generate within these limitations.
  • As with all cards, paying balances in full and tracking expenses for tax purposes is essential for maximizing rewards and value in exchange for the card’s $375 annual fee.

Bottom Line

The addition of a $150 annual statement credit for Squarespace purchases enhances the value offered by the American Express® Business Gold Card, making it a valuable tool for small business owners and freelancers looking to build or upgrade their online presence.

When paired with its rewards and other statement credit perks, the card offers meaningful value—but as always, its value hinges on your actual business spending habits and whether you’ll fully use all available statement credits.
