How To Earn Capital One Miles
Current Capital One cardholders know the drill— the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Venture X Business earn unlimited 2X miles on every purchase. That means every dollar spent helps unlock valuable miles toward discounted flights and hotel stays.
Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card carries an annual fee of $95, but it’s packed with benefits that frequent travelers will appreciate. Cardholders earn 5 miles per dollar on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, 5 miles per dollar spent on Capital One Entertainment purchases through 12/31/25 and an unlimited 2 miles per dollar spent on other purchases.
Best of all, the card features a generous welcome bonus: 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within three months from account opening. This is an opportune way to jumpstart your miles stash.
Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card comes with a higher annual fee of $395, but for the right traveler, it delivers serious value. The card earns elevated rewards on travel, including 2 miles per dollar on all eligible purchases, 5 miles per dollar on flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel, 5 miles per dollar on Capital One Entertainment purchases through 12/31/25 and 10 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars when booking via Capital One Travel.
It also includes valuable perks like a 10,000-mile anniversary bonus (worth $100 toward travel) and a $300 annual travel credit for bookings through Capital One Travel that can effectively offset the annual fee.
Alternatives to the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
Capital One Venture X Business
If you travel frequently for business, the Capital One Venture X Business is a smart pick. It has the same annual fee as the Venture X—$395—and a similar reward structure: 10 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars and 5 miles on flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One’s travel booking site and 2 miles per dollar on every purchase.
The card also includes the 10,000-mile anniversary bonus and $300 annual travel credit for bookings through Capital One Travel. One key difference: a larger welcome offer. Business owners can earn 150,000 miles after spending $30,000 in the first three months from account opening, making that next business flight to Japan easier to swing.
Bottom Line
Capital One is adding Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Japan Airlines Mileage Bank and I Prefer Hotel Rewards to its travel partner network. Cardholders can maximize credit card welcome bonuses and earning multipliers to redeem miles for flights and hotel stays.
