American Express has refreshed its premier card, The Platinum Card® from American Express (Terms apply, see rates & fees), expanding its digital entertainment credit.

TV fans can rejoice, as the new and improved credit now covers services such as Paramount+ and YouTube TV, along with existing options like Disney+, Hulu and Peacock.

New Annual Fee, Same Great Deal

The Platinum just got a revamp, with the most notable change being an increase in its annual fee to $895.

New cardholders will see the new fee take effect immediately. For existing Platinum cardholders, the new fee will take effect at their next renewal data on or after January 2, 2026.

New cardholders can also take advantage of a personalized offer as high as 175,000 Membership Rewards® Points after spending $8,000 on eligible purchases on the card in the first 6 months of card membership (approval required, welcome offers vary and you may not be eligible for an offer). These Membership Rewards Points can be transferred to travel partners to book award flights and hotel stays, redeemed through Amex’s travel portal or redeemed for statement credits, gift cards and more.

More Money Toward Streaming

The renovation ushers in a horde of reward additions, including an increased digital entertainment credit of up to $300 per calendar year ($25 a month, enrollment required), with expanded value and new partners tailored to TV and streaming enthusiasts.

Previously, Platinum cardholders received an annual $240 credit, issued as $20 in statement credits each month. Eligible purchases included Disney+, a Disney+ bundle, ESPN+, Hulu, The New York Times, Peacock and The Wall Street Journal when purchased directly from the providers.

Now, the monthly credit has increased to $25, and Amex has added more eligible partners: Paramount+, YouTube Premium and YouTube TV.

Paramount+ offers two tiers—Essential ($7.99 per month) and Premium ($12.99 per month). This means that cardholders who subscribe through Amex can get either plan covered in full through the monthly credit.

The same goes for YouTube Premium ($13.99 per month) but not YouTube TV, which costs $82.99 for the TV Base Plan that includes live TV from over 100 major broadcast, cable and regional sports networks, unlimited DVR space and up to six shared accounts.

Bottom Line

While the Amex Platinum’s annual fee is going up by $200 a year, a high welcome bonus can help offset the cost. An additional $60 in streaming credits also adds value, especially for TV fans. Even better, current Platinum cardholders won’t see the updated annual fee until early 2026.
