Premium credit cards often come with annual fees that can feel exorbitant upfront. But the real measure of value lies in whether the benefits you’ll actually use can outweigh the fee over the course of a year.
With its recent refresh, the Platinum Card® from American Express offers an expanded suite of travel, dining, entertainment, shopping and wellness benefits. Collectively, these benefits can amount to thousands of dollars in potential annual value, whether through everyday savings or memorable experiences. Here’s an in-depth look at where that value sits and how to make it work for your lifestyle.
A Category-by-Category Breakdown of the $3,500 Value
From fitness and shopping credits for eligible purchases to convenient travel benefits, the Platinum Card® offers a wide range of benefits that Card Members can use throughout the year.
The following sections show how the various categories come together to create more than $3,500 in potential annual value. Keep in mind that these totals reflect the maximum potential value. The actual benefits you realize will vary based on how consistently you use the credits while they are valid and whether you take advantage of recurring benefits like lounge access.
Everyday Lifestyle Credits That Can Quietly Add Up
Not all premium card benefits are about luxury hotels or airport lounges. From statement credits toward eligible fitness memberships to everyday shopping trips, some of the Platinum Card’s® most impactful benefits show up in the daily routines you may already be spending on. Here’s a closer look at the Card’s updated lifestyle and wellness benefits:
- $300 lululemon Credit: Platinum Card® members can enjoy up to $75 back in statement credits each quarter when the Platinum Card® is used for eligible purchases at U.S. lululemon retail stores (excluding outlets) and lululemon.com. Enrollment required.
- Walmart+ Monthly Membership Credit: Receive a statement credit* for one monthly Walmart+ membership (subject to auto-renewal) after you pay for Walmart+ each month with your Platinum Card®. *Up to $12.95 plus applicable local sales tax. Plus Ups aren’t eligible.
- Shop Saks with Platinum: Get up to $100 in statement credits annually for purchases at Saks Fifth Avenue or saks.com on your Platinum Card®. That’s up to $50 in statement credits from January through June and up to $50 in statement credits from July through December. No minimum purchase required. Enrollment required.
- $200 Oura Ring Credit: Receive up to $200 in statement credits each calendar year when you use the Platinum Card® to purchase an Oura Ring at Ouraring.com. Enrollment required. Oura currently offers two rings: The Oura Ring 3 is priced at $199, which the credit can fully cover, and the Oura Ring 4 is priced at $349, where you would need to pay the difference.
- $300 Equinox Credit: Get up to $300 in statement credits each year when you pay for an Equinox+ subscription with live and on-demand classes, or an Equinox club membership (subject to auto-renewal) with your Platinum Card®.
Since these statement credits apply to everyday purchases, like grocery delivery or seasonal wardrobe updates, they can help reduce routine expenses and add steady value you’ll notice throughout the year.
Dining and Entertainment Value That Stretches From Table to Couch
Dining and entertainment are some of the most visible ways premium cards can deliver benefits—pairing practical savings with access to experiences that can feel harder to put a price on.
With the Platinum Card®, a typical night out can become something more memorable thanks to benefits that reduce the bill and open doors to popular restaurants. And when the evening winds down, another benefit kicks in to help cover streaming services. These are the key benefits in detail:
- $400 Resy Credit: Get up to $100 in statement credits each quarter when you use the Platinum Card® to make eligible purchases with Resy, including dining purchases at U.S. Resy restaurants. Enrollment required.
- Digital Entertainment Credit: Receive up to $25 per month in statement credits (up to $300 in statement credits annually) for eligible streaming, news and sports services with participating partners when paid with your Platinum Card®. Enrollment required.
- Platinum Nights by Resy: With Platinum Nights by Resy, you can get special access to reservations on select nights at participating in-demand Resy restaurants with your Platinum Card®. Simply add your eligible Card to your Resy profile to discover and book Platinum Nights reservations.
- Global Dining Access by Resy: Global Dining Access by Resy gives you special access to sought-after restaurants when you add your Platinum Card® to your Resy profile. You can get access to exclusive reservations, premium dining experiences, Priority Notify and more, all from Resy.com or the Resy app.
What’s notable here is how much of the Platinum Card’s® value ties into things you’re likely to spend on during the year. For years, premium cards have leaned heavily on travel benefits. And while that remains a cornerstone, dining, delivery and streaming now sit just as prominently at the table.
Travel Benefits That Deliver Core Value on the Road
While lifestyle and dining benefits add breadth, travel remains the traditional anchor of a premium card’s value. For many Card Members, the Platinum Card® will have its strongest impact during trips, whether it’s a weekend getaway or recurring business trips. Core travel benefits include:

Balancing a Premium Price With Potential Value
The Platinum Card’s® annual fee[1] may look steep at first glance, but it’s best viewed against the potential value you can access.
To make sure that those credits don’t slip through the cracks, it helps to enroll in eligible benefits early, connect the card to apps like Uber, Resy and your streaming services, and set up simple reminders for seasonal benefits, such as the hotel and Saks credits.
With that alignment in place and a bit of planning to keep credits from going unused, the Platinum Card’s® benefits can add comfort and convenience to both everyday routines and special occasions.
